Experience earned
through my own business.

My photography website ranked on the first page of Google for “Houston Wedding Photographer,” usually around fourth. Google was how customers found me. I never paid for advertising.

What worked then

I used relevant wording in the actual content and listed the business on a handful of wedding-related websites. The site described what I offered to people searching for a photographer.

What I focus on today

I combine useful content with a clear page structure and careful technical setup. The goal is to connect your services with the searches potential customers make.

Each page has a purpose.
Its SEO should reflect that.

I review pages individually, from the words visitors read to the information search engines receive. A service page and a how-to guide need to explain different things.

Titles and descriptions

I write a title and description for each page that reflect its subject and help people understand what they will find.

Content and headings

I organize information around the questions visitors have, using clear headings and relevant language in the actual text.

Links and discovery

I connect related pages with descriptive links and review the sitemap, canonical URLs, and indexing settings.

Images and structured data

I optimize image sizes, add appropriate alternative text, and use structured data where it accurately describes the page or business.

Give people a reason
to find you.

Your service pages cover what you sell. Helpful articles can reach people earlier, while they are researching a problem or deciding what they need.

I use guides on this site as part of my own SEO strategy. They answer specific questions and give people another way to discover my work. The subject needs to be relevant, and the answer needs to be worth their time.

Choose useful subjects

Start with questions customers ask, problems you solve, and information that helps someone make a decision.

Write with substance

Explain the subject clearly, use examples from experience, and give readers enough detail to help them. Extra words alone do not make a better page.

Keep the information current

Review content as your services change. Update outdated details and make sure the links still lead somewhere useful.

Ready for search.
Presentable when shared.

I check the technical setup before launch, including whether public pages can be crawled and whether anything is unintentionally blocking indexing.

I also prepare social titles, descriptions, and preview images, along with browser and device icons. These help present your site consistently when someone shares a link or saves it.

Build on
real results.

Once the site is indexed, search impressions, queries, and visits help show what is reaching people. Inquiries and sales show whether those visits are useful to the business.

Rankings take time and depend on the search, competition, and content. I focus on improvements I can make and evaluate, rather than promising a particular position.
